Outreach

Let Children’s Museum Tucson bring hands-on fun to your students – in person or through our virtual outreach program.

Museum Educators will provide engaging, interactive lessons that align with Arizona education standards.

Virtual programs are held live over Zoom and include ready-made kits for each student so they can complete the project or experiment along with our educators and students have the opportunity to ask questions and interact with each other and the CMT Team!

Wee Can Count

Using “10 Little Rubber Ducks” by Eric Carle, children will practice counting, play a fun game where we’ll move our bodies, and each child will design a duck using shapes!

Colorful Kiddos

Did you know we all have emotions and that we wear our emotions differently? We’ll read “It’s Okay to Be Different” by Todd Parr, move and groove as we learn a song and dance about our emotions, play a game and create Todd Parr-inspired self-portraits!

Beep! Beep!

Get ready to rev up your engines as we learn about transportation! We’ll read “If I Built a Car” by Chris Van Dusen, stretch our bodies out to transportation yoga, and use shapes to create a vehicular masterpiece.

Marvelous Murals

Students will discuss the topic of murals – where they are and what they mean – and create their own mural using mixed media!

Noisy Science: Sound

Students will learn what soundwaves are and the varying frequencies at which they travel by creating their own musical instrument.

That’s Extreme!

Students will discuss various cloud types, the formation of extreme weather patterns and create their own cloud.

Wonders of Water

Students will review the water cycle, its functions and have the opportunity to create their own environment.

Wonders of Space

Little astronomers will enjoy  discovering properties of space rocks (meteorites) through hands-on investigations. They will begin to grasp the great sizes and distances of these dynamic bodies in our Solar System. Students will then get to create a model of their very own out-of-this-world picture!

Dino Discovery

Get ready to dive into the Pre-historic era as we learn all about the majestic creatures that used to roam the land, and what they ate!

Amazing Murals

Students will draw inspiration from a local muralist to create their own Sonoran Desert-themed work of art.

Sense of Place

Get ready to learn more about our home and the Desert around us. We will read “This House is Made of Mud” by Ken Buchanan, do desert yoga and learn more about our neighbors who live in the desert.

Messy Science: Reactions

Students will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of exo- and endothermic reactions by witnessing an exothermic reaction and creating their own endothermic experiment.

Amazing Murals

Using techniques similar to those in local murals and drawing inspiration from local landscapes, students will sketch their ideas for a large-scale art piece.

Book Cover Design

Students imagine themselves as the designer of a book cover! They will be given inspirational examples along with tools and techniques on how to take their own ideas and create a one-of-a-kind art cover that reflects their own uniqueness.
